Bragging Rights
Join Stokes Brookland PTA in some fun (and fundraising) for March Madness!
Stokes staff and families are invited to play a March Madness bracket competition. Fill out a bracket on ESPN.com at this link for the Men’s Tournament and this link for the Women’s Tournament.
The password for both brackets is “stokes”. Brackets open on Sunday, March 17th and you’ve got to pick quickly before the games begin!
There’s a suggested donation of $5 per bracket (you can play up to three brackets), and money will be collected in Ms. Julia’s office, at the April PTA meeting and through the PTA’s PayPal account (send funds to stokespta@gmail.com through your app). Funds will be deposited into the general PTA account, financing such things as Staff Appreciation Week, study tour donations and playground renovations.
If you are one of our bracket winners, you will get bragging rights plus a trophy declaring you are the Oracle of Oakview which you may PROUDLY take home or display in the Stokes trophy display case in the hallway. Each of our Oracles of Oakview will also win a $25 gift card from Brookland Pint (which is a great local bar and restaurant to watch the games with friends). AND one of you, to be determined randomly, will win access to the coveted parking space up next to the front door for the whole month of May, giving you special drive up Oakview Terrace privileges if you are a family member and the best parking in town if you are a staff member.
Have fun!
This year, we decided to do something a little bit different to help ensure our scholars have all the tools they need inside the classroom.
We went straight to the source – their teachers – to help determine what actually is needed.
And they have already delivered an initial wishlist – everything from Woodstock chimes for our pre-k and K Spanish classes to scissors for second-grade French and inflatable playground balls for PE.
This is where we all come into play.
Please consider bookmarking the link and checking in throughout the year to help our scholars have all the materials they need for a strong curricula.
